Walk With Me: You Are Not Alone

There are things society teaches us not to talk about.

Bad childhoods. Trauma. Addiction. Failure. Fear. Loneliness. Mental health. The darkest moments of our lives. The things that happened to us years ago that somehow still follow us today.

We are taught to keep moving.

Keep working.

Keep smiling.

Shut up and deal with it.

And sometimes we become so good at pretending everything is okay that even the people closest to us have no idea that we are fighting a battle inside.

This is my first blog.

I don't really know what I'm doing yet, and I'm not going to pretend that I do.

Maybe someday I'll look back at this first post and laugh at how my misguided blogging career started.

But I know why I'm writing it.

I want people to know that they are not alone.

If you're going through something and just need someone to listen, reach out.

If you need to know that somebody is standing somewhere in this world saying, "I see you. Keep going," reach out.

If you feel like you're fighting your battle completely alone, I want you to know that someone is willing to stand beside you.

I Know What It Feels Like to Be Alone

During some of the darkest periods of my life, I felt completely alone.

Sometimes there were people physically around me, but inside, I was still alone.

Part of that came from what many of us are taught growing up: your problems are your problems. Deal with them.

Another part came from me.

I didn't want anyone else carrying my burdens because I believed they were mine to carry.

So I carried them.

Quietly.

And I know I'm not the only person who has done that.

There are millions of people walking around every day carrying things that nobody else can see.

That's one of the reasons I'm starting this blog.

I'm not writing because I have all the answers.

I don't.

I'm writing because sometimes having someone willing to sit beside you while you search for those answers matters more than someone pretending they already know them.

The Secret Identity of Idgit Ink

I started a company called Idgit Ink.

From the outside, someone might look at it and think it's just another graphic T-shirt company or online store.

But Idgit Ink has always had a secret identity.

Behind the designs, shirts, digital products, artwork, and everything else we're creating, there is something much bigger that I want to build.

It's called Walk With Me.

And Walk With Me isn't supposed to be a charity.

I want it to become a community.

A community built around one very simple idea:

People should not have to walk through the darkest moments of their lives alone.

I want to build a place where people help hold each other up when life knocks someone down.

A place where connections can become friendships.

Where friendships can become family.

Sometimes those connections might come from two people who have experienced similar trauma.

Sometimes it might simply be someone saying:

"I've never experienced what you're going through, but I'm willing to sit here and listen."

Both matter.

No Politics. No Religion Tests. No Dividing Lines.

Walk With Me is not about what political party you support.

It isn't about your religion.

It isn't about whether you have a religion at all.

It isn't about where you come from, what you believe, how much money you make, what you look like, or what ideology you follow.

There are enough places in the world trying to divide us.

This shouldn't be one of them.

Nobody should come into this community trying to force their political, religious, or personal beliefs onto somebody else.

The only thing I want people trying to spread here is compassion.

You don't have to agree with someone on everything to sit beside them when they're hurting.

You don't have to understand everything someone has experienced to listen.

You don't need identical lives to care about each other.

Sometimes you just need to be human.

Darkness Doesn't Have One Name

When I talk about darkness, I don't mean one particular struggle.

Darkness can take thousands of forms.

It can be trauma.

Grief.

Depression.

Anxiety.

Addiction.

Abuse.

Financial problems.

A broken marriage.

Losing someone you love.

Medical problems.

PTSD.

Loneliness.

Failure.

Fear.

A childhood you are still trying to understand decades later.

Starting your life over.

Or simply waking up one morning and realizing you don't know how you're going to make it through another day.

I don't care what your darkness looks like.

If something in your life feels heavy enough that you don't want to carry it alone, then I want this community to be somewhere you can turn.

We All Have Scars

Every one of us carries scars.

Some people have scars you can see.

Others carry scars nobody knows exist.

But our scars do not have to define us.

They don't automatically make us weak.

Sometimes those scars become proof that we walked through something that once seemed impossible and somehow kept moving.

They can become reminders of what we survived.

They can make us stronger.

And sometimes the person who once needed someone to walk beside them becomes the person who reaches back and helps someone else stand.

That's the community I want to create.

Not people pretending to have perfect lives.

Not people pretending they have all the answers.

Just imperfect people helping other imperfect people.

If This Helps One Person

I don't know where this blog will go.

I don't know how many people will ever read it.

Maybe thousands someday.

Maybe millions.

Maybe twenty.

But if these words reach one person standing in the darkness and convince them to stand back up…

If one person realizes they don't have to fight completely alone…

If one person decides to take another step forward…

Then writing this was worth it.

And if enough people begin doing that for each other, imagine what we could build.

One person helping another.

That person someday helping someone else.

And eventually creating a network of people who refuse to allow someone standing beside them to disappear into the darkness unnoticed.

There have already been too many people lost to their battles.

I want us to do everything we can to make that number smaller.

And maybe someday we'll build something powerful enough that nobody who reaches out has to hear silence on the other side.

So This Is Where We Begin

This is my first blog.

It's probably not perfect.

Neither am I.

And that's actually pretty fitting for Idgit Ink.

Our saying is:

Where Imperfections Create Perfection.

Maybe that applies to people too.

We're all carrying imperfections, mistakes, scars, regrets, and pieces of our past.

But those pieces don't have to destroy us.

Maybe together we can turn them into something meaningful.

So if you're struggling, reach out.

If you're doing okay but you know someone who isn't, reach back.

And if you've survived something that once nearly broke you, maybe someday your story will become the light somebody else follows out of their darkness.

You don't have to have the answers.

Sometimes you just have to be willing to walk beside someone.

That's what Walk With Me means.

And that's what I hope we can build together.

You are not alone.

Keep standing. Keep moving. And when you can, help the person beside you do the same.
